Bachforelle hotel FalknerhofFly Fishing in the wild brook and mountain lake  for trouts

Two fly fishing spots are exclusively available to our guests:
The Horlachbach is a crystal-clear mountain creek completely without turbidity. Above the waterfall, at an altitude of 1500 to 2200 m the brook is mostly naive and hosts beautifully drawn brook trouts, further down in the mouth of the brook even rainbow trouts.

The Ötztaler Ache is fishable on a length of 4 km, including 9 km side brooks. Premium fish population!

Horlachbach Hotel Falknerhof Fly Fishing Spot I - Horlachbach

15 km mountain brook, fly fishing only, catch and release, light hooks;
length: 12 km, width: 3 to 8 m.
fish population: brook trouts,  samlets.
The Horlachbach is our main center of our fishing district. From the mouth of the Ötztaler Ache the river rises initially heavily regulated, but with big rainbow and brook trouts through the meadows as far as Umhausen village. From here, you can fish into a wild stream with deep waters, going up as far as the waterfall, with trouts and brook trouts.

The Horlachbach, a wonderful mountain stream with cold, clean and richly oxygenated water has a rich insect resources, but which offers little variation: stone and caddis flies are the most common insect species. In some sections there are a few dayflies (Heptageniden). Since the flow of the Horlachbach is relatively high, the fish have very little time to get their meals.

Sedge (Florian drag Sedge) and stone fly imitations are the first choice. Low-standing fishes are a little choosy and can be hooked with stone flies with gold head or caddis fly nymphs.  ... all this with clear glacier waters!

Oetztaler Ache Hotel FalknerhofFly Fishing Spot II – Ötztaler Ache

Partly turbidity due to the glacier; Length: 4 km; Width: 10 to 20 m; 9 km side brooks; Bait: flies, artificial bait, nymph hook; fish population: rainbow, brook trout, samlets.

Lovely features and partly deep waters conceal the catches. The best time to catch rainbow, brook trout is from mid-March until the beginning of the snow melt and autumn, when the temperatures begin to fall. The Ötztaler Ache is fishable on both side from Winklen at Längenfeld at a length of about 4 km . It is up to 30 m wide and depending on the season, good to wade. The fish population is outstanding and is mainly ensured by the feeding brooks. These side streams are also fishable on a length of 9 km. Up to 2 m wide, is always crystal clear and very rich in fish!

Bergsee Hotel FalknerhofFly Fishing Spot  III - Mountain lakes

Sportive and eventful fly fishing!
At an altitude of 2.500 m, these lakes can only be reached on foot. Unique fishing with breathtaking panorama!
Beautifully marked chars, lake trouts and brown trouts are the compensation for the challenging hike.

Fly Fishing Water IV - Greyling Water at the Inn

Our new fishing water!
The Inn has its source in Engadin and flows into the Danube.
From now on we can offer you the Inn at a length of 4 km: lake trouts, rainbow trouts and greylings make the main river of Tyrol a fantastic fishing water, which can be reached by car in approx. 45 minutes.

Fly fishing equipment and flies

An eight or nine feet long fly-fishing rod of the category 3 to 5 is more than enough for the Horlachbach.  Chest wader and fishing boots (with felt sole) make fly-fishing with a normal water level during summer and autumn much easier.
